Aestivating Snails Post
Fencepost of the Week #143
Around the mediterranean, snails find the summer much too hot and dry - these ones have climbed a fencepost and sealed themselves up, awaiting cooler, damper conditions. By climbing they can keep out of the way and find cooler air than at ground level.
